New Name for International Iron and Steel Institute
The International Iron and Steel Institute has changed its name to World Steel Association, or worldsteel for short. The change of name and identity has been made to reflect its development and highlights its leadership as the world body promoting the interests of the global steel industry in terms of economic, environmental and social sustainability. World Steel Association is a truly global body representing 18 of the world's 20 largest steel companies, including six of the top 10 producers in China. worldsteel have produced a short film which is available to view on their website www.worldsteel.org

Professor Tridibesh Mukherjee Awarded 2008 Bessemer Gold Medal
Dr Tridibesh Mukherjee, Tata Steel, receives the Bessemer Gold Medal from the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining for his service to the steel industry. He joined Tata in 1971 and rose to Deputy Managing Director (steel). He is now a Board member responsible for R&D and technology, and leads worldwide research into yield improvement.
Dr Mukherjee will give the Sir Henry Bessemer Lecture on Wednesday 5th November at the Law Society, London. For further details, please see the website below.
